The fact that Pierre was from a Caribbean background, and particularly Jamaican, was enough to form conjectures of what his dilemma would likely to be. However, as a reader of non-fictional books, this was my first fictional book in over 5 years, and I can say this was surely not a regrettable read. With Terry's enthralling storytelling, this novel brought the characters to the imagination and can easily be a relatable reflection of most men and women encounters. Thanks, Terry; I appreciate the good read and definitely encourage my fellow readers to check out Pierre's emotional journey.

Those stories were head shakers and so is the story of Pierre. It's a fast read. Bring it for a vacation read. Trust me, every dawg (dog) has his day...

Kev 5.0 out of 5 stars I don't normally read romance novels, but... Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2023 I normally do not read love novels, however after finishing this book, I now feel it deserves a sequel.
So let me share my thoughts about the book and how it made me feel. To be honest, after reading through the first three chapters, the book seemed a bit lukewarm. A lot of background information was provided, and some of it I deemed unnecessary to the actual plot and perhaps that lead to me putting it down for a short period of time.
I later went on vacation on a red-eye cross county flight and felt this was a good opportunity to pick up the book again, remembering that I should now be at chapter four. Once I started reading, I had to force myself to stop. I literally flew through the pages, but had to put it away as the plane was preparing for landing. As soon as I got some rest, I picked up the book again, and quickly ran out of pages to turn. I couldn't believe the story was done; I definitely wanted more! You know you have connected with a book, when you become upset by characters' actions and decisions being made along the way.
Note to any potential readers, take my advice and be prepared to hang in there as it's worth it. If it seems a little slow in the beginning, it gets way better over time. Once you get over that initial hump, it's a smooth and enjoyable read, plus the ending was not as cookie cutter as you would expect!

Mrs. Robinson shares her "...gone 'a foreign..." migration gamble which millions of Jamaicans have (voluntarily) undertaken to the US since the late 19th century. It is a physical, emotional and financial roller coaster and she finds a wellspring of personal guidance through her unbreakable faith and the love of Scripture. Mrs. Robinson's life-changing undertaking and her select biblical passages In "Seven Letters To Heaven" may be of great service to others ready to navigate the great voyage to the States.

Seven Letters to Heaven: A True Story of Faith and Answered Prayers (Paperback)
This was a heartwarming and inspiring read! Such a beautiful relationship with God, and a wonderful example of just how we are all called to have an intimate relationship with Him in ALL things--life's difficulties, joys, hardships, losses and achievements, and giving Him the glory in all things--lows and highs. This book is a beautiful example of just that. I loved how Felicita open heartedly shares her journey and relationship with Him along the way, and how she was able to recognize God's will and consoling affirmation through difficult trials faced. How so very encouraging!

As a writer myself; This is truly a beautiful expression of one's needs as was Terry's; As she journeys through her soul within her faith, building hope which realized the knowledge of herself in "Christ" and the awareness to overcome all obstacles, trials and fears; strengthened by her love of God. It was this unknowing, answered through her perseverance in prayer, which ultimately became the sacrifice and gift.

This review is from: Seven Letters to Heaven: A True Story of Faith and Answered Prayers (Paperback)
I would like to thank you for the inspiration I received from reading your book. Thanks for reminding me that all one has to do is 'ask and believe' that God will answer our prayers. Sometimes while asking for what you need you think that you are not worthy and, therefore, there is a 'doubt' that lurks in the back of your mind that your prayer will not be fulfilled. Just before opening my email this morning I prayed for answers to problems that I am confronting I heard a tiny voice saying that 'God is too busy to hear my request.' Then I opened this email from Michael and now I know that I am blocking my own blessings by that tiny seed of doubt. Thank you so much for having written this book. There are so many people like me who need to be reminded that God hears ALL prayers and answers all in His own way and time.

Dearest Terry:
I completed reading your book this weekend and was so happy that I finally found the time to do so. Your book highlights over and over again, the fact that God always answers prayers. Our problem is that we do not always ask, and so we do not receive. I particularly like your letter about the $200 in the pyramid scheme, it speaks to the fact, that while God uses other people to bless us, he also uses us to bless others. I have to remind myself of this time and time again because it is not always about my family and I. Girlfriend, congratulations on this great accomplishment once again. May God continue to richly bless you in this endeavor, and may this book mark the beginning of a truly exciting period in your life.

In reading this lovely little book, I was touched by the author's simple description of her growing faith. As I read, I kept thinking of the words of the old hymn, "What a Friend we Have in Jesus": "Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?,,,Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?...We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer." Here is a person who followed that advice and truly found "a solace there." How fortunate that her prayers were in the form of letters, showing her dilemmas, her concerns, and her petitions to God, so that when the tough times were past she--and we--could have a record of each step in the journey. Thank you, Terry, for sharing your experience and your inspiration with others.

Hi Terry,
I finally read the book. Very easy to read and very inspirational in so much that I think I will adopt your idea. I am very touched by the outcome of your first letter. It was certainly divine intervention that made you turn on the radio that morning at that time and to hear such a message; what an awesome God we serve! If I can steal one or two of your thoughts: 'In order for the Lord to help us, we need to have faith; open our minds and hearts to Him; and listen to that small voice from within. Believe! Once you do, you will be provided with the key to the door of many possibilities.' I do believe that the Lord will never give us more than we can bear but sometimes He does these things to test us.
I didn't realise you were so spiritual from that time, and I guess what you have experienced will make you closer to the Lord. I have suggested to Jack that he reads the book as I hope it will help to build his faith.
I wish for you all the success in this venture.

Hi Terry, I wanted to let you know that I finished reading your book this morning. It was very interesting and personal and I thank you for sharing. I don't think that I've ever written a prayer, but I think that is a good idea. I like your last prayer of Thanksgiving. Sometimes I offer a prayer without asking for anything, but just thank God for his sustaining support. It is hard to do this because I am so used to asking him for things. I don't think that he is that much different than us. In fact, I am sure that he occasionally just likes to know that he's appreciated, and you showed him that very well in your book.

You have done an excellent job in this book. The way you write, the sincerity you use to narrate all those fears and exciting moments that persons relocating from one country to another go thru (and we completely understand you; you know that). I enjoyed every passage because we went thru similar situations when it was our turn to relocate to the US. Dear Terry
The messages are so "a propos" for me at this very moment in time, when a lot of emerging changes make me feel uncertain about the "unknown" elements of the future. These back and forth thoughts can really transpire to make you doubt your own faith, even though God has done a mighty work in my/your life for so long.
Your recounting of your experiences about the weeks leading up to your leaving your "homeland" and the challenges you endured while preparing to transition to your new "homeland" in the USA really helped me put my own experiences in perspective. The scripture readings you chose, the poems you composed, and your own missives were a great source of inspiration to me as I read....because they all resonated with me (especially right now in my life) in ways that you will never begin to imagine.. The verse that kept coming to me throughout the reading of your book was from Luke 17 v.6 "And the lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamore tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you" The Lord is always at the right place, at the right time, at the right moment when he provides you with the food or information you need to never doubt that he has got your back if we would only let go and let him...But of course, we are human, with human failings... All the very best on your journey with this book and I admire the courage you have shown to be vulnerable and share, so that others might grow. Aurie
