Inspirational, a good reminder about the power of prayers

By Wilton Gordon

This review is from: Seven Letters to Heaven: A True Story of Faith and Answered Prayers (Paperback)

Seven Letters to Heaven has inspired me to have more patience and faith in God and prayers. The book also brings back personal memories from my journey or migration to the USA from Jamaica.

**********

Your faith filled book gave me reason and pause to reflect.  It was fitting that I read this book on the flight down to Jamaica on my way to a reunion of our alma mater (Alpha Academy) and finished the book on the flight back to Toronto.

Thank you for laying it out in the manner in which you did.  It was inspiring and your trustworthiness in sharing your private thoughts with your readers is to be praised.  Glory be to God.

As a writer myself; This is truly a beautiful expression of one's needs as was Terry's; As she journeys through her soul within her faith, building hope which realized the knowledge of herself in "Christ" and the awareness to overcome all obstacles, trials and fears; strengthened by her love of God. It was this unknowing, answered through her perseverance in prayer, which ultimately became the sacrifice and gift.

Need to have Faith

By Averil A. Higgins

This review is from: Seven Letters to Heaven: A True Story of Faith and Answered Prayers (Paperback)

I would like to thank you for the inspiration I received from reading your book. Thanks for reminding me that all one has to do is 'ask and believe' that God will answer our prayers. Sometimes while asking for what you need you think that you are not worthy and, therefore, there is a 'doubt' that lurks in the back of your mind that your prayer will not be fulfilled. Just before opening my email this morning I prayed for answers to problems that I am confronting I heard a tiny voice saying that 'God is too busy to hear my request.' Then I opened this email from Michael and now I know that I am blocking my own blessings by that tiny seed of doubt. Thank you so much for having written this book. There are so many people like me who need to be reminded that God hears ALL prayers and answers all in His own way and time.

A Must Read

By Dape317

This review is from: Seven Letters to Heaven: A True Story of Faith and Answered Prayers (Paperback)

Seven Letters To Heaven is such a fast, wonderful, and inspirational read! Honestly, it inspires me to become a better person and to deepen my relationship with God. It also renews my faith and helps me to understand that what He has done for you, He will do for me; especially in these difficult times when fear tends to overtake us. Seven Letters to Heaven should be required reading for everyone. I highly recommend this book and will be telling all my friends about it. Debra Ehrhardt, Actress (Jamaica Farewell)

Dear Terry:

In most of my prayers I always pray for friends and relatives and not for myself.  I guess because I feel that it is somewhat selfish to do so.  Now that I have read your book, Seven Letters to Heaven, I realize that I, too, am a child of God and that I, too, can take my problems to him for his help and guidance.  Thank you for bringing this home to me!

Congratulations on your beautiful and inspiring book. It has given me reason to think and reflect on how God has blessed me and my family so abundantly. I love the quotes you included in your book - I have used one of them to send to someone who is very ill. I pray that my faith will increase and strengthen my desire to offer my life to God to let him take charge

Dearest Terry:

I completed reading your book this weekend and was so happy that I finally found the time to do so. Your book highlights over and over again, the fact that God always answers prayers. Our problem is that we do not always ask, and so we do not receive. I particularly like your letter about the $200 in the pyramid scheme,  it speaks to the fact, that while God uses other people to bless us, he also uses us to bless others. I have to remind myself of this time and time again because it is not always about my family and I. Girlfriend, congratulations on this great accomplishment once again. May God continue to richly bless you in this endeavor, and may this book mark the beginning of a truly exciting period in your life.

In reading this lovely little book, I was touched by the author's simple description of her growing faith. As I read, I kept thinking of the words of the old hymn, "What a Friend we Have in Jesus": "Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?,,,Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?...We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer." Here is a person who followed that advice and truly found "a solace there." How fortunate that her prayers were in the form of letters, showing her dilemmas, her concerns, and her petitions to God, so that when the tough times were past she--and we--could have a record of each step in the journey. Thank you, Terry, for sharing your experience and your inspiration with others.

Hi Terry,

I finally read the book.  Very easy to read and very inspirational in so much that I think I will adopt your idea.  I am very touched by the outcome of your first letter.  It was certainly divine intervention that made you turn on the radio that morning at that time and to hear such a message; what an awesome God we serve!  If I can steal one or two of your thoughts: 'In order for the Lord to help us, we need to have faith; open our minds and hearts to Him; and listen to that small voice from within. Believe!  Once you do, you will be provided with the key to the door of many possibilities.'  I do believe that the Lord will never give us more than we can bear but sometimes He does these things to test us.

I didn't realise you were so spiritual from that time, and I guess what you have experienced will make you closer to the Lord.  I have suggested to Jack that he reads the book as I hope it will help to build his faith.

I wish for you all the success in this venture.

Your cousin,

Audrey

Enlightening

This review is from: Seven Letters to Heaven: A True Story of Faith and Answered Prayers (Paperback)

Seven Letters to Heaven is an easy read and provides an honest personal account of Felicita's search for answers through letters of prayer and poems. I would recommend this book to others who may be searching for answers because the book has inspired me to write my own letters of prayer. Thanks for sharing your stories of faith and answered prayers.

Hello Terry,

I just got my copy of "Seven Letters To Heaven". I now understand your motivation for writing the letters/poems and have learned more about you as a person.

The book is nicely laid out with letters and poems interspersed with explanations and outcomes. There is a great deal of sensitivity expressed in your verses.

Congratulations and best wishes for the future.

God be with you.

Hi Terry,

I wanted to let you know that I finished reading your book this morning. It was very interesting and personal and I thank you for sharing. I don't think that I've ever written a prayer, but I think that is a good idea. I like your last prayer of Thanksgiving. Sometimes I offer a prayer without asking for anything, but just thank God for his sustaining support. It is hard to do this because I am so used to asking him for things. I don't think that he is that much different than us.  In fact, I am sure that he occasionally just likes to know that he's appreciated, and you showed him that very well in your book.

My Dear Terry,

I thought about you all evening as I saw the minutes tick away and finally accepted the fact that I wouldn't make it to your book launch this evening. I'm so sorry but trust that the event was a great success! I thoroughly enjoyed the book and could really relate to your experiences. I'm now even more motivated to continue writing to God. I would put my feelings in writing but not in the form of a letter, more like a diary. I will follow your wonderful example as I continue to lean on Him for the strength needed to get through life. We certainly can't do it without His help.

CONGRATULATIONS again and I wish you God's richest blessings as you continue to follow His will.

Love,

Dear Terry,

I read your book the very first day that my wife brought it home. I had already received a sample thru Kindle and was very enthusiastic in reading the whole narration. You have done an excellent job in this book. The way you write, the sincerity you use to narrate all those fears and exciting moments that persons relocating from one country to another go thru (and we completely understand you; you know that). I enjoyed every passage because we went thru similar situations when it was our turn to relocate to the US. I loved the simplicity and the sincerity you used in your narrations, and your strong belief in God, and that He was going to always help you as He did. Thanks Terry for providing me with this enchanting reading. It has been a long time since I enjoyed reading a book like now.

Dear Terry

The messages are so "a propos" for me at this very moment in time, when a lot of emerging changes make me feel uncertain about the "unknown" elements of the future. These back and forth thoughts can really transpire to make you doubt your own faith, even though God has done a mighty work in my/your life for so long.

Your recounting of your experiences about the weeks leading up to your leaving your "homeland" and the challenges you endured while preparing to transition to your new "homeland" in the USA really helped me put my own experiences in perspective. The scripture readings you chose, the poems you composed, and your own missives were a great source of inspiration to me as I read....because they all resonated with me (especially right now in my life) in ways that you will never begin to imagine..

The verse that kept coming to me throughout the reading of your book was from Luke 17 v.6 "And the lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamore tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you"

The Lord is always at the right place, at the right time, at the right moment when he provides you with the food or information you need to never doubt that he has got your back if we would only let go and let him...But of course, we are human, with human failings...

All the very best on your journey with this book and I admire the courage you have shown to be vulnerable and share, so that others might grow.

Aurie

Dear Terry:

We got copies of your book and I read it today.  It is beautifully written and I congratulate you for your crisp prose and poetry.  I am not a man of faith so I cannot relate much to the topic, but I still found inspiration in the stories.  Just in case I need it in the future, can you please tell me what address you used to send the letters?"

E.Talero

Dear E:

In response to your question, you will first need to direct your requests and/or letters in prayers to our heavenly Father who will hear you.  In other words, through prayers, your requests and/or letters will be delivered.  All it takes, E, is faith.

 Inspiring

This review is from: Seven Letters to Heaven: A True Story of Faith and Answered Prayers (Paperback)

Nothing superficial about this book. A simple honest belief in God, and Faith. That we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength Phil.4:13. I was very much inspired by her quotes from the Bible and her own personal comments and poems.

Your book is beautiful and inspiring. I finished reading it today. Your poems and personal notes are very insightful. I am happy to know that you are at that place where you know without a doubt that God is in control of our lives. Your Faith has made you whole. May God continue to bless you. I read your book and it was lovely!  It was an easy and quick read that kept my interest. I particularly enjoyed Chapter 6 on "Fear of Meeting Deadlines."  We all have our "deadlines" and our "fears," so I could relate to that.  I actually marked my bible with the passage you quoted, for future reference.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, which speak of how much we lean and count on our Lord; and your testimonials as to how He answers.  He always does, doesn't He.

Very happy for you, and very proud of you!

Dear Terry:

Congratulations! Congratulations! I know this has been a journey for you but as you know God is always right on time. I will definitely purchase a copy of your book--the Seven letters to Heaven-- and share the website with my friends. I am sure this is a great teaching moment for you and learning for all who buy and read it. And that you share these special milestones with us on your journey....

I think that it is important to recognize everyone's journey, because if we pause and listen we can learn a lot from each other--people sometimes feel that they are undergoing challenges alone, but if they are open to others challenges they will not feel so alone.

 Stay blessed.
